His citation is as follows: "For 15 years, Mike Wright volunteered for the Renfrew County United Way, serving as its board chairman for much of that time. Under his leadership, the organization’s fundraising campaign doubled in size and expanded to cover all of Renfrew County. He also played a key role in supporting strategic and innovative initiatives for the community."

He talked about the rich tradition of working together and helping one another that exists in the Ottawa Valley, and shared some of his thoughts on the role and importance of volunteerism in our society.
