Visit to La Manne de l’île
On December 11, 2013, His Excellency visited La Manne de l’île Food Bank, in Gatineau, Quebec.

On this occasion, His Excellency toured the facility, met with volunteers and helped Miss Roxanne Desmarais assemble box lunches which are distributed in over 26 schools in the region.

This visit follows Their Excellencies’ participation in La grande guignolée des médias, which was held on International Volunteer Day. La Manne de l’île was one of the local charities that benefited from funds and non-perishable food items collected on that day.

His Excellency then helped assemble food baskets that are distributed monthly to local citizens in need.

Miss Desmarais is a recipient of both the Caring Canadian Award and the Diamond Jubilee Medal because of her volunteer work.
