Their Excellencies attended the Champions of Mental Health Awards Gala, on May 6, 2013, at the Fairmont Château Laurier, in Ottawa. Organized by the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH), this annual event recognizes individuals and organizations whose outstanding contributions have advanced the mental health agenda in Canada.

"Canadians should not hide but rather have an open and frank conversation about mental health, because one in five Canadians experiences some sort of mental health problem each year, with symptoms ranging from minor to severe," said Her Excellency.
