The Chief Herald of Canada Claire Boudreau (left)talked about the different components of the exhibit. Featuring interpretative panels and multimedia elements, it also inspires visitors to learn more about the Canadian Heraldic Authority’s work in creating coats of arms and other emblems.

Her Excellency then accompanied Her Royal Highness for a tour of the exhibit From Far and Wide – Honouring Great Canadians. This exhibit about Canada’s national honours showcases stories of exceptional Canadians who have been recognized with the Order of Canada, Decorations for Bravery, Military Valour Decorations and other national honours.

The exhibit features more than 160 artifacts, including iconic pieces from the Canadian War Museum’s own world-renowned collections, and others from Library and Archives Canada, Parks Canada, the McCord Museum, the Niagara Historical Society Museum, the Peterborough Museum and Archives, and the City of Toronto.

This is the Earl’s 33rd visit to Canada, and the Countess’ 9th visit. Starting in Ottawa on September 11, Their Royal Highnesses will travel to Iqaluit, Nunavut, before returning to Ontario for a tour that will include stops in Trenton, Toronto, Hamilton, St. Catharines and Midland.

The tour conclude with a visit to the stables. Since 1988, the Canadian Sunset Ceremonies are an annual event, offering the RCMP a way of thanking the community for its support, as well as means of providing the public with an opportunity to see the Musical Ride. The 2012 theme is “The Queen's Diamond Jubilee - A Canadian Celebration.”
