Visit to London - Queen's Diamond Jubilee - Day 4
The morning of the last day of his visit to London to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, the Governor General met with Her Excellency Ms. Quentin Bryce, A.C., C.V.O., Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia. They discussed areas of common interest and their role as representative of Her Majesty The Queen in their respective country.

Their Excellencies attended a reception at Canada House with Mr. Gordon Campbell, High Commissioner of Canada to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The Governor General delivered remarks during the reception: "The historic ties between Canada and the United Kingdom are deep and meaningful. We share the same traditions of constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, and our relationship has evolved and grown into the wonderful and productive friendship we enjoy today."

In the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Their Excellencies, joined by the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, witnessed the unveiling of The Queen’s new portrait during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Rendered by artist Phil Richards, the painting was commissioned by the Government of Canada to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
