Visit to London - Queen's Diamond Jubilee

The Governor General and Mr. Gordon Campbell, High Commissioner of Canada to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland both delivered remarks. His Excellency said: "The Diamond Jubilee is as much a celebration of Canada as it is a celebration of The Queen’s lifetime of service. By remembering this as Canadians, we honour Her Majesty’s devotion to our country."

Their Excellencies are in London, England to represent their fellow Canadians and take part in The Central Weekend to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. They participated in a luncheon with London’s Canadian community at Canada House as part of The Big Jubilee Lunch.

The luncheon took place at Canada House. His Excellency had the chance to mingle with members of the Canadian community of London who attended the event. The ladies here are sisters from Toronto.

During the Big Jubilee Lunch with the Canadian community, His Excellency and Mr. Gordon Campbell, High Commissioner of Canada to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, joined three of the Canadian Tenors to sing God Save the Queen.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh traveled in the Royal Barge (in red), which formed the centrepiece of the flotilla. Their Excellencies embarked on a Royal Squadron vessel.

The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant comprised up to 1 000 boats from across the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world.

Canadians participated in the event,namely, the Canadian heralds were aboard the Connaught.

At Canada House, Their Excellencies toured a photographic exhibit of The Queen’s visits to Canada. They were accompanied by Mr. Gordon Campbell.

The Governor General gave a few interviews to media who came at Canada House to cover the Big Jubilee Lunch.
