Their Excellencies attended today the official opening of Canada Olympic House in London. The Governor General, along with (right to left) the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), Sylvie Bernier, Canadian Deputy Chef de Mission, Gordon Campbell, High Commissioner for Canada, Marcel Aubut, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee, Mark Tewksbury, Canadian Chef de Mission and Christiane Despatie, mother of Canadian diver Alexandre Despatie, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

His Excellency delivered a speech on this occasion: "As an avid sports enthusiast, I have an inkling of the incredible hard work and dedication our athletes put into their Olympic dream. They are in the top ranks of athletes the world over, and we all have reason to be proud. The Olympics inspire us with a wonderful sense of possibility, and that is why your support of Canadian athletes is so vital."
