April, commonly known as Daffodil Month, is the month to fight back against cancer. Across the country, Canadian Cancer Society volunteers will be selling bright yellow daffodil pins, as well as fresh daffodils, which symbolize strength and courage in the fight against cancer.

To mark the beginning of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil Campaign for 2012, Their Excellencies received bouquets of daffodils from two young cancer patients.

The Shouldice and Neville families posed with Their Excellencies for a group photo in the Rideau Hall greenhouses. Funds raised during the Daffodil Campaign will help the Society fund promising cancer research in prevention and treatment; inform and support Canadians living with cancer; and advocate for public policies to improve the health of Canadians.
