2011 Canada Army Run
On September 18, 2011, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston participated in this year’s Canada Army Run, in Ottawa.

Prior to the race, Their Excellencies wished good luck to all participants. Canada Army Run is a unique event in which Canadians run, walk, or roll side-by-side with members of the Canadian Forces in 5K and half-marathon events. Launched in 2008 by 7 000 participating runners, the event’s fundraising efforts benefit Canadian Forces Personnel Support programs, which include Soldier On and the Military Families Fund.

At the starting line, Their Excellencies wished good luck to the injured and ill soldiers participating in the 5-kilometre race. Their Excellencies are pleased to have the opportunity to show their support for Canadian Forces members and their families. They strongly believe in the values of physical fitness, and share their love of being active with their own children and grandchildren.
