Michener Awards Ceremony
Business and high-technology reporter in the CBC Parliamentary Bureau Julie Ireton, the 2010 Michener-Deacon Fellowship recipient, has been a reporter and producer at the CBC for more than 15 years. She will use the fellowship to investigate and report on intermediaries, double-dipping and cronysm in the federal public service.

Civic Affairs reporter Linda Gyulai and publisher Alan Allnutt accepted the award.

Mr. Pierre Sormany accepted the citation of Merit.

Mr. Robert Osborne accepted the citation of Merit.

Mr. Douglas Kelly accepted the citation of Merit.

Ms. Stephanie Coombs accepted the citation of Merit.
Thu, 05/27/2010 - 12:00 MCpl Dany Veillette, Rideau Hall GG2010-0286-007A citation of Merit was awarded to the Globe and Mail for a series about a Canadian citizen, Abousfian Abdelrazik, who's rights had not been respected by Canada. He was denied a passport, despite being cleared of wrongdoing by Sudanese officials, and had been sleeping on a cot for over a year in the Canadian Embassy in Khartoum. Mr. John Stackhouse accepted the citation of Merit.
