The Governor General hosted a working luncheon in Huntsville to welcome the following African leaders to Canada: Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria; Abdoulaye Wade, President of the Republic of Senegal; Bingu wa Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi and Chairperson of the African Union; Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa; Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, President and Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Ato Meles Zanawi, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Chair of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD); Dr. Jean Ping, Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
