His Excellency inspected the Guard of Honour formed by the Governor General's Foot Guards and the Canadian Grenadier Guards.

As he left Centre Block, the new Governor General received a Royal Salute and a 21-gun Salute was heard. His Excellency then inspected the Guard of Honour.

His Excellency was presented with Canadian Honours (collars of office of the Chancellor of the Order of Canada, chancellor of the Order of Military Merit, Chancellor of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces and Head of the Canadian Heraldic Authority) and the Great Seal of Canada by Mrs. Sheila-Marie Cook, Secretary to the Governor General, and Ms. Claire Boudreau, Chief Herald of Canada.
