Honoris Causa Doctorate from the Université de Montréal

Her Excellency received her honoris causa doctorate from rector Luc Vinet.

The Governor General attended a convocation ceremony of the 3rd round (doctorates) at the Université de Montréal. Five other recipients were also invited as special guests to receive an honoris causa doctorate. Among them was the Honorable Lise Bacon (left of Governor General).

During the event, the Governor General delivered an address. "Because university prepares us to constantly extend this work of thought in new directions so that—above all—it regenerates and strengthens the ties humans invented to better live together and to live better together. That is the fundamental reason why I believe that universities play a vital role in training and strengthening thought."

Over 200 students received their doctorates during the event.

The Governor General also presented six Governor General’s Academic Medal.
