Announcement of the 2010 Governor General Awards for Performing Arts

This year's recipients, from left to right: Mohammed Faris and Yulanda Faris (Voluntarism in the Performing Arts); Robin Phillips (Lifetime Artistic Achievement); Françoise Faucher (Lifetime Artistic Achievement); Yannick Nézet-Séguin (National Arts Centre Award); Walter Homburger (Lifetime Artistic Achievement). "The Governor General's Performing Arts Awards are one way for us to honour these artists who have the great talent to move us, to make us laugh, cry and think: in short, to gain access to that very place of truth and humanity that lives in all of us."

The Mentorship Program is a partnership inaugurated in 2008 between the GGPAA Foundation and Canada's National Arts Centre that is designed to unite past Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award recipients and talented mid-career artists. Mr. Kevin Loring (left) is mentored by Mr. Gordon Pinsent (right).

Their Excellencies honoured the recipients of this year’s Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards during two events held in Montréal on Tuesday, February 23. the first event was the announcement of this year's recipients at Théâtre Espace Go.
