Visit to Directions Youth Services Center in Vancouver

Operated by the Family Services of Greater Vancouver, the Centre is working closely with the community to develop solutions to end youth homelessness in Vancouver and to change the community’s perception of street-involved youth.

The Governor General met with staff and had a conversation with Ms. Renata Aebi, Director of Directions Youth Services Centre.

During the visit, Her Excellency had the chance to see and hear very talented youth such as Alex, from Thunder Bay in Ontario, who plays the banjo.

The Governor General even had the time to share some of her drawing skills with Sharon Small from Vancouver.

Her Excellency held a discussion at the Directions Youth Services Centre with frequent users of the services. The dialogue touched upon the daily challenges facing the youth and the solutions they have found to improve their living conditions.
