Visit to the Centre de la francophonie des Amériques à Québec

Located in the heart of Old Quebec, the Centre de la francophonie des Amériques contributes in promoting and highlighting a forward-looking Francophonie in the context of cultural diversity, by favoring exchanges, building partnerships and the development of francophone networks.

Her Excellency was welcomed by Mr. Jean-Louis Roy, Chair of the Board (right), and Mr. Michel Robitaille, Chief Executive Officer (centre), before visiting the Centre.

In the public area, an interpretative path guides the visitors towards the Musée de l’Amérique française and helps them discover the places and the people that constitute the Francophonie in America.

Mr. Michel Robitaille, chief executive officer of the Centre, presented a brief introduction to the centre in the middle of a deconsecrated church. The Centre shares the building at 2, côte de la Fabrique, with the Musée de l’Amérique française, in the heart of Old Quebec.

Inside, the historic building makes place to modernity and to multimedia installations at the forefront of technology. The Centre uses these installations along with geographical maps and audio-visual presentations to show what the current Francophonie in America is all about, how many people it includes, and the location of that population on this vast territory.
