Launch of Winterlude 2009
Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, launched the 31st edition of Winterlude on the Rideau Canal Skateway. During the ceremony, Her Excellency delivered remarks and broke the ice ribbon to officially launch the celebrations and activities planned throughout Canada’s capital region. The ceremony was followed by the presentation of Ukiuk, a new Sound and Light Show celebrating winter, and a performance by six-time Juno award winner Colin James.
