Patron of The Royal Canadian Legion, Her Excellency received the symbolic first poppy from Mr. Wilf Edmond, Dominion President of the Legion.

Mr. Charles H. Belzile, Honorary Grand President of the Legion, received his poppy from the Governor General. Poppies will be available to the general public starting October 30.

The National Poppy Campaign is designed to raise funds for needy Canadian ex-service members and their dependents as well as Commonwealth veterans.
