Governor General's Meeting with Afghan parliamentarians
The Governor General met with a delegation of six Afghan women, all parliamentarians, at Rideau Hall. At the request of the Canadian government, the women were invited to Canada to study its parliamentary and democratic institutions and to report on the advancement of women’s issues in their home country. The Governor General spoke with Afghan women during her visit to Afghanistan, on International Women’s Day in 2007.
