Visit to Italy – February 24-27, 2006

The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General, drops by the British Columbia-Canada Place on February 26, 2006, to meet with the Chiefs of the four host First Nations during her visit to Torino, Italy. Governor General Jean was in Torino to attend the closing ceremonies of the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. While in Italy, Governor General Jean also took the time to meet with the Italian president and had an audience with His Holiness Benedict XVI.

The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General, meets with the president of Italy, His Excellency Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, at the Quirinale Palace in Rome. The meeting took place on February 27, 2006, during a visit to Italy to attend the closing ceremonies of the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Governor General Jean also had an opportunity to meet His Holiness Benedict XVI.
