Message from the Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada to the Members of the Canadian Armed Forces
and to Canadians Serving our Country Abroad
OTTAWA—At this festive time of year, Sharon and I would like to offer our best wishes for the holiday season to the members of the Canadian Armed Forces and to all Canadians serving our country abroad. While your sense of duty has called you to serve our nation, you remain in our thoughts, wherever you may be. It is our hope that the Christmas spirit brings you happiness, peace and comfort, and that the year ahead sees all of your dreams come true, for you and your families. We wish you the very best.
We would like to extend special thanks to each of you for the outstanding work that you do every day. We know the sacrifices inherent in your duties, yet you fulfill your varied and demanding responsibilities with compassion.
We would especially like to commend you for your efforts to welcome Syrian refugees to Canada. By defending our ideals with such an outpouring of goodwill, you are acting for the betterment of our country and those you are helping.
On behalf of all Canadians, we offer our heartfelt gratitude.
