Margaret Orsi

In 2001, high school teacher Margaret Orsi founded Ayni, a grassroots NGO that helps alleviate poverty in Piura, Peru. Her work has inspired her students in Canada to develop a passion for social justice, and led to the creation of the York Catholic District School Board's Indigenous Studies program, which has brought students to Peru and which has influenced a new generation of humanitarians.
