For several years, Gérard Marchand has been volunteering his time to develop trail networks for non-motorized activities. In particular, he has spent 15 years working to establish the Trans Canada Trail in Quebec. He is the president of the Société des sentiers de la région de la Capitale-Nationale du Québec.
