A registered nurse, Linda Hammond has consistently found the time after 12-hour shifts to contribute to her community's well-being. For 20 years, she was active in the Girl Guide movement as a leader and a district commissioner. She has also been a dynamic member of the Knox Shuniah United Church, heading up various fundraisers for its Global Outreach Team and supporting its youth camp. Mrs. Hammond also regularly supports her husband's soup kitchen by making soup and gathering goods. Whether cleaning an ill neighbour's home or offering a meal and assistance to persons in distress, Mrs. Hammond's warmth and compassion have made a difference in the lives of many neighbours and fellow residents.
