Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For nearly 20 years, Barbara Adelaide Fowler has worked in Truro to improve the living conditions of persons with disabilities. As an active member of the Disabled Consumers Society of Colchester, she has held every office, served every committee and volunteered countless hours to the Society's fundraiser bingo. The bingo's proceeds are used to operate a local bus service for the disabled and seniors in the area, to assist in the purchase of technical aids and medication and to fund social and awareness events. Despite her own challenges with arthritis, Mrs. Fowler has persistently demonstrated selfless devotion to others.
