Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For fifteen years, Sister Claire Sgroi has been a volunteer companion to four Laotian children and their family, helping them adapt to life in Canada and to the challenges of their respective age groups. She is very involved in the Association des bénévoles qualifiés auprès des jeunes and is considered to be one of its pillars. Through the Association de la promotion de la femme, she has done volunteer work to assist women with psychiatric problems and battered women and children. As well, she is heavily involved in parish work, where she organizes "Friendship Lunches" and leads the team at the Montréal Institut de formation humaine intégrale.
