Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Soon after arriving in Flatlands as a young bride following the Second World War, Kirsten Ferguson began making a difference in her community. As a founding member of the local Women's Institute, she taught young women to sew and embroider. Involved in her church, she became a Sunday-school teacher and is now teaching third generation students. She has always freely given of her time at the regional hospital, helping with pastoral care and fundraising.
