Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Bill St. Louis provides much needed help to underprivileged people in his community. Fifteen years ago, he founded The Neighbourhood Action Project of Sudbury. Coordinated by Mr. St. Louis, this organization provides advocacy and counselling, operates a weekly food pantry and organizes an annual Christmas food hamper campaign. Over the years, he has personally canvassed businesses for donations of food and money and for warehouse space, recruited volunteers, and collected and distributed boxes of food. Mr. St. Louis has also been an advocate of affordable housing, and has been instrumental in establishing and running a non-profit housing complex for singles and couples.
