Thérèse Roy (deceased), Montréal, Que.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For ten years, Thérèse Roy voluntarily gave more than forty-five hours per week of her time to the Résidence Berthiaume-Du Tremblay, having been involved in crafts, group leadership, medical escorting, visitation and secretarial duties. With a friend, she inspired a workshop that produced some 20,500 hand-held puppets for sick children at the Sainte-Justine Hospital. Mrs. Roy also worked with the Pavillon Louvain, the Maison Théâtre and the Red Cross for more than twelve years.
