Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Marlene Turner's contributions to her community are many and far-reaching. She has long been active as a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and the Golden Age Club, was a founding member of the Great Spirit Writer's Club, and started the Arts and Crafts Club and the Multicultural Association. Active in her church as well, she visits those in need of company and was instrumental in establishing a grief and loss support group. Mrs. Turner established the Manitouwadge Recycling Association, and spends many hours recruiting volunteers and educating the community about the need to recycle.
