Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Velma Medler has been ministering comfort and hope at a chronic care hospital for more than forty years. She visits patients, their families and the hospital staff. She serves as the hospital's liaison with clergy from many religious denominations, ensuring that patients have the opportunity for meaningful contact with the spiritual representative of their choice. Mrs. Medler arranges weekly church services in alternating denominations and is frequently asked to provide the eulogy at memorial services.
