    After retiring from the Ontario Provincial Police in 1980, Mr. Joe McAughey dedicated himself to volunteer work. For twelve years, he donated his time and talents to help with YM/YWCA swimming, aquatic exercise, fitness for seniors, scuba diving, snorkelling and art programs. In addition, he is a talented musician who plays the piano and fiddle, and who freely brings entertainment, music and smiles to people who are elderly or ill at nursing homes, seniors groups and the Parkwood Hospital for veterans. Over the years, Mr. McAughey also volunteered with the Royal Canadian Legion, the Maritime Club, bridge and euchre clubs, and Meals on Wheels.
