    Lois Daley Laycock, Ottawa, Ont. Governor General's Caring Canadian Award Since first volunteering as a hostess at Air Force House in Montréal in 1943, Lois Daley Laycock has been active in community service organizations ranging from the United Way to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Cancer Society and the Royal Ottawa Hospital clothing exchange. She is best known, however, for the works of art that she paints and donates to various charities to raise funds and for the poems she composes and recites at Remembrance Day ceremonies and on other special occasions.
