Phillip Martinson, Airdrie, Alberta
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

For the past 15 years, Phillip Martinson has committed himself to the Airdrie Royal Canadian Army Cadets. Through his efforts, many youths have participated in the 1998 Olympics, the Rick Hansen Man in Motion Tour, the Airdrie Rotary Club Soap Box Derby, the Terry Fox Run and the Duke of Edinburgh Young Canadians Challenge. As well, he helped to fund, build and maintain a local Scout hall. He has also helped raise funds for the Alberta Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) Ambulance organization. Mr. Martinson is always willing to help with a good cause particularly when it involves Canada's youth.
