Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

For over 40 years, Philip Arthur Saunders, of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, has used his time, resources and talents to help others. Since founding the Kiwanis Club of Cabot in 1966, Mr. Saunders has served in a range of roles, including that of board member of the Kiwanis Music Festival Association of St. John's. In addition, Mr. Saunders has devoted countless hours to serving his parish community, has served as the chair of the board of directors for the Waterford Hospital, and has been an executive member of the Victorian Order of Nurses for almost 50 years. Mr. Saunders is highly motivated by care and concern, a fact at once apparent to all who work with him.
