Deena Saminathan, a student at Frances Libermann Catholic High School, was instrumental in helping her peers collect over 2 000 pairs of jeans for teens in need. She has also devoted many hours of volunteer service to the Scarborough Hospital Gift Shop and to the Toronto Public Library's Youth Advisory Group, where she coordinates teen-friendly events and activities.
