Since 2005, Janis Monture has been an active member of the Six Nations of the Grand River community, serving on the executive boards of numerous foundations dedicated to promoting and protecting Indigenous heritage in the Greater Toronto Area. She is also an avid promoter of Indigenous arts, and volunteers with the Kaha:wi Dance Theatre and Planet IndigenUS.
