Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
A retired nurse, Jean Marshall has made caring for others a way of life. A member of the Oak Park Lodge, a seniors housing complex, she advocates and fundraises for the expansion of housing for the elderly. She assists the coordinator of a local adult day program in providing recreational activities for isolated seniors. Through her affiliation with the South Interlake Seniors Resource Council and the Southwest Care Committee, she frequently visits and provides transportation for shut-ins and people with life-threatening illnesses. Always willing to welcome people seeking shelter into her home, Ms. Marshall can be counted on by the elderly and by people in distress to give selflessly of her time and resources to alleviate difficult situations.
