Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For many years, Laura Rose gave countless hours of her time to the Hay River Hospital Auxiliary. She provided support to senior citizens, assisting with shopping and cooking and organizing outings. For the past eight years, she has volunteered for the Hay River Soup Kitchen, serving as president of the board and working three days a week to provide meals to 120 clients. She provides free advice on budgeting and nutrition and organizes canvassing and fundraising events for the soup kitchen. Mrs. Rose has also found the time to read to children at schools and libraries and to act as treasurer of a local radio station.
