Sonia Michalyshen and Phyllis Reader co-founded International HOPE Canada Inc., a non profit organization that collects refurbished medical equipment for distribution to clinics and hospitals in less-developed countries around the world. Thanks to their work, patients have access to sterile supplies and hospitals are better equipped. In Reader's absence, her award will be presented to Roma Maconachie, past-president of International HOPE Canada.
