Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Senior Constable Dominic D'Arcy, the "Singing Policeman", has been reaching out with his music to thousands of children in area schools for more than three decades, bringing an effective message of safety and personal responsibility. He performs some 200 shows annually, many on his own time and without remuneration. His sympathetic ear and his music often help to turn troubled youth around, encouraging teenagers to become involved in community work and to avoid substance use. Senior Constable D'Arcy also donates his time and talent to raise funds for a vast number of charitable causes, such as the Kidney Foundation and the Kiwanis Club, and entertains at seniors residences.
