Since 1969, Charles Pachal has been working with the Provincial Emergency Program in British Columbia to support the Canadian military in its search and rescue of downed aircraft. As the Central Region Zone commander, he implemented improvements at the local and provincial levels, and served as the volunteer director general of the Air program for 27 years.
