Since his retirement, World War II veteran Harry Hardy has volunteered with the Tetra Society of North America, which recruits engineers to make assistive devices for people with disabilities. He is also well-known for his efforts to re-introduce endangered species of exotic pheasants through his own aviary and breeding program.
