Melvin Porter is an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and has volunteered with the Arnprior Branch as a veterans service officer, chairman of the Poppy Campaign and liaison officer with the Cadets. He is also an avid fundraiser with the Multiple Sclerosis Society and has participated in the annual bike ride for the past 17 years.
