Peter Showler is admired for his lifelong work in immigration and refugee law. As a lawyer, academic, writer, and former Chair of the Immigration and Refugee Board, he was a proponent of a fair and efficient refugee claim process that also recognized refugee perspectives. He wrote several books and reports and delivered national and international training programs. He has been a mentor to countless advocates and adjudicators in Canada and abroad.
