David Scheifele has helped to reduce the occurrence of infectious diseases in children. As the director of the Vaccine Evaluation Center at the University of British Columbia, and as the founder of the Canadian Association of Immunization Research and Evaluation, he has increased public confidence in childhood vaccines. He was also a principal investigator in a nationwide monitoring program that tracks disease control and adverse events from immunization. His leadership and collaborative research has positioned Canada at the leading edge of vaccine use and safety.
