Danièle Sauvageau is a leading figure in the development of women’s hockey in Canada. Breaking with traditions in coaching, she rose through the ranks to become a high-level coach. Notably, she led the Canadian team to its first-ever gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. In addition, by joining the Montréal Rockets, she became the first female coach of a male major junior hockey team in Canada. Known for her innovative approach, she is sought after as a mentor by coaches in other sports and is a role model for women in sport.
