A successful businessman, he is well known in his city and his province as a man of integrity and sound judgement. He is a generous philanthropist whose leadership has benefited numerous health and educational organizations. Notably, as Chair of the Board of Foothills Hospital in Calgary for nearly a decade, he was instrumental in its financial revitalization. The Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research became, over his long tenure, a major contributor to high-quality health research in the province. He continues to support the community through his family foundation, and through his appointment as Founding Chairman of the Alberta Ingenuity Fund.
