He has led the development of avalanche safety in Canada for more than forty years. In addition to founding the Canadian Avalanche Association, he has contributed to hazard evaluation, research, education and the design of safety defence structures at the National Research Council. His expertise in this important field of study has provided valuable advice to recreational ski sites, government and industry.
