He has shared his expertise and passion for ornithology in countless ways, with amateurs and professionals alike. His books on birds in Ontario are considered classics. A committed conservationist, he has been a mentor for many, generous with his time and, in some cases, his personal resources. A founding member of many naturalist organizations in Ontario, he also gave away a significant portion of his own land to protect a larger forest, which now bears his name.
